Where Seafoam Rests Upon the Shore is an atmospheric coastal fine art photograph created on location at Dinglehowe Beach in Orkney, Scotland. Part of my Seafoam and Salt series, this original human-made photographic artwork draws upon the pale turquoise sea, shifting Atlantic light and soft sandy shores of the remote Scottish islands.
Using long exposure photography and intentional camera movement, I allowed the details of the landscape to soften into layers of seafoam green, aqua, blue and warm sand. The horizon seems to dissolve between sea and sky, giving the work the gentle, painterly quality of an abstract watercolour while retaining its origins in the wild Orkney coast.
There is something deeply moving about working in such a remote place. Standing on these ancient island shores, surrounded by wind, water and an immense northern sky, I wanted to capture not simply what Dinglehowe looked like, but the feeling of being there — that beautiful sense of stillness and distance from the everyday world.
With its soft coastal palette and minimalist composition, this large-scale photographic artwork brings a quiet, luminous presence to an interior. Particularly suited to contemporary, coastal and neutral interiors, it works beautifully as oversized statement art for a living room, bedroom or serene open-plan space.
