In and out of time...... Skye

from £195.00

When we think about a place, when we think about our lives and times gone by, we seem to be in and out of time. Like a watercolour dream, everything from the past is softened and hard edges erased. Happy memories blend with sad making them less disturbing and like the a landscape seen through softly falling rain all is forgiven and acceptable.

This is one of a series of images made in late Summer on a rainy day at the far end of the Waternish Peninsula of the Isle of Skye. This part of our small island is very remote, you reach it after driving down bumpy one track roads and past some small croft houses until even those become few and far between. The peninsula overlooks a small bay of water towards Dunvegan and at the far end are the remains of an ancient churchyard with graves dating back hundreds of years. The day was soft and overcast with a mist of rain falling, no sound other than the birds.
