The Land I Love
Inspired by the endless beauty of the Isle of Skye, The Land I Love is one that speaks of contrasts, of light and dark, of sea and land, the elements that make this place so special. It has taken me many years to find where I belong, I travelled the world and saw beautiful places but none that touches my heart the way Skye does.
From an old Gaelic song called Mo dhuthnaich (My Land) these words seem very apt. It was originally written about the island of Tiree which is nearby but I feel the sentiment can be shared for our Isle of Skye.
The land I love is the most beautiful island,
where lived the bards who created verses -
the very pleasant land where hospitality was to be had
from east to west, on hill and moorland.
