On the Wings of a Song
Snow clouds are one of the amazing features of the skies around my studio on the Isle of Skye. These vast clouds float like sailing ships across the sky changing and evolving as they go. On the day this image was made, I stood on the cliffs overlooking the Sound of Raasay, the sky unfolded into something extraordinary—a vast snow cloud shaped like wings, stretching across the horizon. The contrast was striking: the brilliant white and soft cream hues of the cloud soaring above the still, teal water below.
In that moment, the landscape felt almost otherworldly, as if nature itself had painted a scene of power and grace. The cloud, dramatic and commanding, seemed to take flight, while the sea remained calm, reflecting the quiet presence of the sky. This photograph captures that fleeting moment—a balance of strength and serenity, movement and stillness, drama and peace.
